Love, sacrifice, commitment, and patience. These are just a few of the qualities you require as you embark on your journey to parenthood. None of these qualities are gender specific, or exclusive to anyone kind of family. They are human qualities that will fuel you and guide you, as you navigate through the not-always-smooth process of becoming a parent, and parenting in general.
Recently, while reflecting on my own parenting journey, I had an epiphany!
I was thinking about expectations, and continuing to work towards creating a peaceful parenting home.... when it hit me! We, as parents, must create a world that is right for our children—not change our children for the world.
Every day, we know more and more about what children need to thrive, and what they need, to support all different kinds of development. This often gives us the information we need, but it doesn't always give us the means to make it happen.
If we really breakdown and look at the core of what our children need, we will see that those same qualities that propelled us into parenthood, are the same qualities we need to create an environment that nurtures children and their unique needs.
Love always, sacrifice time, commit to the process, and have patience every step of the way. Turn those qualities into actions, and you will find your path.
