A national campaign to add 15 weeks of Attachment Leave Employment Insurance Benefits for adoptive parents, kinship and customary caregivers.

In our ongoing advocacy for expanded parental leave benefits for adoptive parents, kinship and customary caregivers, Adopt4Life—Ontario’s Adoptive Parents Association and the Adoption Council of Canada are seeking blogs from parents or caregivers across the country. The blogs would highlight your thoughts and hopes about an additional category of EI benefits called “attachment benefits,” which would give children more #TimeToAttach. We are working collaboratively on this initiative with a team of researchers from Western University.

To learn more about Time to Attach, please visit www.timetoattach.com and follow them on Facebook @timetoattach or on Twitter @time_to_attach.

We are asking that blogs be around 500 words, more or less, and that they be written using your name, an alias, or merely ‘a Community Parent’ or ‘an Awaiting Parent’ and your province. Blogs will be shared on our website and social media outlets during the month of February 2019, to support advocacy efforts in favour of attachments benefits on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Sharing these blogs with federal government officials helps them to understand how widespread the support is for an attachment leave and what it would mean for people across the country.

We are asking that all blogs be submitted by April of 2019 to blogs@adpot4life.com. Any questions can be directed towards info@adopt4life.com.
