We’re hiring for a part-time position as a Community Engagement Liaison!

This is great job opportunity for adoptive, kinship, customary care and/or foster parents or those touched by adoption, who have experience in Marketing, Communications, and/or a related field

Adopt4Life is hiring a part-time Community Engagement Liaison to work 17.5 hours per week within the Province of Ontario. The ability to work flexible hours to meet demands will be essential.

Working directly with the Executive Director, Team Lead and Communications Designer, The Community Engagement Liaison will become the first point of contact for new families who register, and continuously engage the community through social media, ongoing campaigns, online interactions and research to ensure proper education and knowledge around issues facing those touched by adoption including areas, but not limited to, openness, developmental trauma, reactive attachment disorder, FASD, cultural connections, sibling adoptions, older child adoption and special needs. The ideal candidate will show competencies in understanding social strategies, have lived personal experiences with adoption and experience in continuously connecting with the over all community for common trends in support needs.

Adopt4Life—Ontario’s Adoptive Parent Association, is a community of people with lived experience of adoption, that strengthens and empowers parents to achieve permanency for children so that they reach their full potential. We believe that all adoptive, kinship and customary care parents have a right to advocacy, support and guidance throughout their lifelong journey.

What unites Adopt4Life’s Board, staff, volunteers, community parents and partners in the adoption community is a passion and commitment to make a difference for our children and all children in need of permanency. It is because of this passion and commitment and the unanimous recognition for the need for lifelong post adoption connections and support that Adopt4Life’s Parent2Parent Support Network was born. The Parent2Parent Support Network has been funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services since September 2016.

Adopt4Life is dedicated to building the capacity of adoptive parents to advocate for their children’s unique needs, through a network of support that strengthens their family and reduces the likelihood of disruption. Our pillars are advocacy, support and guidance and by doing so create a greater capacity in our province to support families formed by adoption or providing permanency.

 

About the position

  • The ideal candidate will have lived experience as an adoptive, kinship or customary care parent or be someone touched by adoption in another significant way.

  • This should be combined with a solid knowledge in social media-tools, trends and applications, new opportunities in the social media space, including: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.

  • They will also have exceptional project and time management skills with the ability to remain well-organized and able to juggle frequently changing priorities and deadlines.

  • They will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to map out a social calendar and develop optimal posting schedule, considering family engagement metrics and best practices.

  • They will have the ability and vigilance to manage, monitor and participate in conversations with the Adopt4Life community on social channels and the ability to dynamically adjust to feedback. This position will require the ability to multi-task, and manage multiple, competing requests with a high sense of urgency.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, communication, research skills and experience drafting social posts will be required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including service providers, organizational leaders, and families.

  • The individual will be required to work independently and with minimum supervision as well as within a team.

These skills will normally have been acquired through a post-secondary education in Marketing, Public Relations or Communications with a minimum of two years work experience or through an equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are seeking an inventive community engagement Liaison who is truly passionate about the capabilities of social media and dedicated to the Adopt4Life mission. The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, able to generate and publish different types of posts and content optimized for various platforms, and willing to collaborate with others within the community. Fluency in French will be considered an asset.
