Volunteer Position Title: Committee Members, Strategic Risk Oversight and Governance Committee
Volunteer Position Description: Adopt4Life is looking for committee members to sit on the Strategic Risk Oversight and Governance Committee. Applicants will ideally be adoptive parents or kinship or customary caregivers—or touched by adoption in a meaningful way. They will be passionate about helping people form families through adoption, and kinship or customary care arrangements.
The Strategic Risk Oversight and Governance Committee will report directly to the Board Treasurer. The intent of forming this committee is to provide professional guidance around the fiduciary and governance oversight role of the Board, including (list not exhaustive): financial and risk-management assessments and recommendations; compliance with legal, regulatory and funder requirements; strategic planning; and the development and overview of investment strategies (once necessary). This committee will also review existing policies and oversee the development of policies needed in the areas of: public relations, community management, marketing, fundraising, social planning, specialized community supports, mental health, employment, finance, privacy, and IT Security.
The committee’s initial mandate will be to come together to establish their scope and short- and long-term priorities, to recommend to the board for discussion and approval.
Qualifications: Ideally, members of this committee will be professionally designated accountants and human-resource professionals, lawyers, and IT Security professionals (as a sub-committee with their own Chair). Board governance qualifications and experience are an asset.
