A real-talk guide to adoption and permanency

For older youth and teens in care the transition to an adoptive family, or another form of permanency, can be overwhelming and hard to anticipate the complex emotions that are sure to come. We had the opportunity to work with an amazing group of youths who have experienced foster care or group home placements, and they shared with us what they wish they had known as permanency plans were being developed and put into place. Their insights have been formed into a video and accompanying booklet, inspired by youth, for youth. We are incredibly proud to have been involved in this project, in partnership with the Adoption Council of Canada and the Desjardins Foundation to produce ‘6 Things Older Youth Should Know About Being Adopted’.
